World Children's Day 2021 - How are young people coping with the Change

World Children's Day interaction was launched on November 20, 2021 and was broadcasted among young U-Reporters up to the age of 25 (about 700k+ U-Reporters), inviting young people to share stories that inspire them and highlight their resilience and capacity to generate impact in their communities.

The interaction mostly focused on listening to the youth by giving them an opportunity to answer some questions without pre defined options, asking them about stories that inspired them to create change in their communities, asking their advice to their leaders on actions that they think are most urgent to help young people and if they have an advice for other young people to cope with these challenging times. U-Report received 85k+ responses from young people across India, with everyone having something to say, such as:

1. What advice would you give to other young people to cope with these challenging times ?

“It is really heart breaking to see when our dear ones are struggling with the pandemic , it had affected our lives one way or another , but believe for each struggle we face in our lives it will definitely makes us stronger to face more challenges that comes in our way , hope for the best and surely good time will come”

2. Do you have a story of your own or other young people that inspired you ?

“The place where I live resides few elderly people. During the worst of pandemics time, I offered help with help of my uncle in form of vegetables, essential item and medicine”

3. If you had the opportunity to advise your leaders on the most urgent actions needed to help young people, what would you tell them?

"We need more opportunities to not just showcase our talents, but more than that, we need opportunities where we can apply/build new skills to create positive impact"

The interaction received 92k+ responses in 2 weeks and around 51% of those responders were female. About 44% (17k+) U-Reporters answered that despite of the impact that the pandemic and other emergencies had on them, it will be different for a few months and will be back to normal.
