Jamshedpur, December 11, 2023: A free health check-up camp and U-Report India advocacy program was organized today at Jamshedpur Co-Operative College under the leadership of National Ambassador Abhishek Kumar. The event was conducted by UNICEF and National Service Scheme (NSS). The chief guest was Principal Dr. Amar Singh who encouraged the students to stay healthy and connect with U-Report India. Over 150 people participated in the eye, ear and dental check-up during the camp.


The program coordinators were Dr. Durga Tamasoy and Dr. Krishna Prasad. The vote of thanks was given by IQAC Coordinator Dr. Neeta Sinha. Volunteers from two NSS units were also present. General Physician Dr. N.R Singh, eye specialist Dr. Varsha, ENT specialist Dr. Ramkrishna and dentist Dr. Sujit Kumar contributed towards the success of the medical camp along with camp coordinators Kamlesh and Satish Singh. 


The free health check-up camp aimed to provide accessible healthcare and spread awareness about health issues among the disadvantaged sections of society. U-Report India, an UNICEF advocacy program empowers young people to speak up on issues affecting their communities. The large participation highlights the need for such initiatives focused on youth health and awareness.



NEW EVENTNSS and UNICEF organize health check-up camp at Mrs KMPM Vocational College

New Delhi, Jan 12: A health check-up camp was organized at Mrs KMPM Vocational College on Friday under the joint auspices of National Service Scheme (NSS) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for U-Report advocacy. U-Report is a global platform that aims to amplify the voices of young people on issues that affect them.


The camp provided free check-ups of 150 students in the college for eye check-up, full body check-up and gynecological examination. A team of doctors from Sanjeev Eye Hospital and a nutritionist from the Department of Food and Nutrition, University of Delhi, conducted the check-ups and gave health tips to the students.


The principal of the college, Dr Meeta Jhakhanwal, appreciated the work of NSS team and encouraged the volunteers to organize such programs in future. She said that such camps help in creating awareness and improving the health status of the students. The college coordinator, Dr Rita Kumar, advised the students to live a disciplined life and follow a balanced diet. She also thanked UNICEF for supporting the initiative and providing the necessary resources. The NSS program coordinator, Mrs Shashi Kiran Tiwari, and the UNICEF ambassador, Mr Abhishek Kumar, played an important role in organizing the camp. They also registered the volunteers under U-Report and explained the benefits of joining the platform.


The camp was conducted under the supervision of Dr Sangeeta Sarkar and Dr Mukesh Mishra, who are the faculty members of the college. They also distributed certificates and badges to the volunteers who participated in the camp. The volunteers expressed their happiness and satisfaction with the camp and said that they learned a lot from the experience. They also pledged to spread the message of health and hygiene among their peers and community.



NEW EVENT: U-Report advocacy program held at Bhola Ram Shivlal Kharakiya College

Dhanbad, Dec 28: A U-Report advocacy program was held at Bhola Ram Shivlal Kharakiya College, Maithon, Dhanbad on Wednesday under the leadership of national ambassador Abhishek Kumar. U-Report is a global platform that aims to amplify the voices of young people on issues that affect them.


The program was attended by 100 intermediate students aged 16 to 29, who joined U-Report and became part of a network of over 10 million U-Reporters worldwide. The students were given an orientation on how to use U-Report and how to participate in polls, campaigns and discussions on various topics. The teacher of intermediate department, Anil Kumar, said that U-Report is a very good initiative started by UNICEF to remove mental stress and for personality development. He said that U-Report helps the students to express their opinions, share their experiences and learn from others. He also encouraged the students to use U-Report regularly and to invite their friends and family to join the platform.


The national ambassador, Abhishek Kumar, said that U-Report is a powerful tool for social change and empowerment. He said that U-Report gives the young people a voice and a platform to influence decision-makers and policy-makers. He also shared some success stories of U-Report from different countries and regions.


The program was also attended by Tarun, who is a U-Report facilitator and a former student of the college. He said that he has been using U-Report for the past two years and has benefited a lot from it. He said that U-Report has helped him to improve his communication skills, awareness and confidence. He also said that U-Report has given him opportunities to interact with other U-Reporters and to participate in various events and activities.


The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by the principal of the college, who appreciated the efforts of UNICEF and the national ambassador for conducting the program. He also thanked the students for their enthusiasm and participation. He said that he hopes that the students will continue to use U-Report and to contribute to the social good.

Advocacy Story #2

On 13 December 2023, A free health check-up camp and U-Report Advocacy program was organised under the joint agency of NSS Ving and Unicef India 

At Jamshedpur Women's University Firstly Event was started with the message of DSW of the university, Dr. Kishwar Ara congratulated the NSS girl students,he highlighted the importance of health check-up then after NSS Coordinator Dr. Gloria Purti in her welcome message gave information about the entire camp highlighting the need for timely health checkups and advised the Youths to join U-Report India. 

 


This program and Camp was organised under the leadership of Abhishek where more than 500 children participated in eye, ear, pathology, gynaecology etc. and made the checkup civil successful and also were also told about the importance of U-Report India on several topics like FunDoo, Mental health and Abhishek suggested each one of them to participate in the recent surveys which would help government in framing the Policy. 

And the Camp was organised under the guidance of specialist Doctor and NSS officer and U-Report India. 

At the end vote of thanks was given by NSS officer Dr. Sunita Kumari and she also highlighted the Prominent role play by Abhishek and NSS coordinator to make this event successful.
