Deepak Lohar, a technical engineer at a private IT company and a national-level U-Ambassador, organized a referral campaign at three colleges in Madhya Pradesh on October 25th and 26th, 2023. He visited Government ITI College, Khachrod, Government Madhav Science College, Ujjain, and Government Polytechnic College, Ujjain, and conducted sessions with the students and staff about U-Report India.
He was assisted by NSS District Coordinator, Dr Pradeep Lakhre ji, and the college staff in obtaining the necessary permissions and arranging the venues. He faced some challenges due to the lack of an identity card and the Model Code of Conduct in effect in the state, but he managed to overcome them with his persistence and enthusiasm.
He introduced U-Report India to the participants and explained how it works and what benefits it offers. He discussed topics such as contemporary issues, climate change, personal hygiene, Mission Life, and more. He also showed them how they can earn national and international certifications, invitations, and rewards through U-Points. Additionally, he highlighted the opportunity to be published on the official website for excellent work and gain social recognition.
He also demonstrated how to join U-Report India through referral IDs and encouraged the participants to invite their friends as well. More than 100 students from all the colleges participated in the campaign and around 90 new U-Reporters joined through his ID.
The participants were very interested and curious about U-Report India and asked many questions to Deepak. He answered them patiently and confidently. The program concluded with a positive feedback from the participants and a vote of thanks from Deepak.
The referral campaign was a successful event that increased the awareness and engagement with U-Report India among the college students and staff. Deepak Lohar showed his leadership skills and passion for social change by organizing this event. He plans to conduct more such events in the future and inspire more young people to join U-Report India.
